Do you experience negative of anxious thoughts?
Our thoughts and values impact the ways in which we understand ourselves. They also influence how we understand life around us. Negative or anxious thoughts and beliefs have a negative impact our feelings and mental health. Most of us also experience trauma or life-changing events at some point in life. These stories need to be heard in order to work through them.
If you have found your way to my profile, it may be that you are feeling troubled and want to discuss these feelings with a patient, compassionate professional. Welcome! Be assured that you have taken a difficult and important first step towards well being.
If you choose to continue your journey towards well being by making an appointment, then let me take a moment to describe what you can expect. During the initial visit, before we begin, I will ask you to complete a standard medical history questionnaire, a consent form, and a therapist-patient service agreement.
During our first counselling, we will take time to explore your background and experiences, which provide context and perspective on where you are now. By gaining insight into your present feelings, where you feel vulnerable, where your strengths lie, we can begin to chart a course towards a sense of well being, setting some realistic goals and expectations.
I fully understand that ‘opening up’ in this way to a complete stranger is incredibly difficult, uncomfortable, occasionally painful. And brave! This process may happen by degrees as I work to earn your trust. You may rest assured that I will do everything within my skill to work with your strengths, reduce your feelings of stress, increase your feeling of well being, and provide you with useful coping strategies.
I honour your courage in coming this far! I look forward to finding a pathway to healing together.
